Email is like pizzaWhat?  Email = Pizza?   Well, yes.  I think the more ingredients there are, the harder it is to digest.  This applies to both email and pizza.  Therefore, keep your "blast" emails to your members limited to one or two main topics or calls to action.  If you have more than that, your members are unlikely to read it, let alone act. And, they may be less likely to even open email from you next time.

You might think this will force you to send lots more emails to communicate the same number of programs, services, events, etc. Sending many different emails to your members is OK IF (big IF) they have given you their permission to do so.  In fact, a great way to increase member satisfaction (and member retention) is to communicate with each member in exactly the way(s) they want.

So, this comes down to creating multiple types of emails, segmenting your members and asking their permission to send to them....things your membership management software should allow you to do.  Yes, it's extra work, but it's really your only choice.  If you pack your emails full of ingredients and send them to everyone, chances are that almost no one will digest them.  How will you communicate with them when they are no longer reading/listening?
