Recently, I placed an order on Sierra Trading Post's website. I've ordered from them several times over the past few years, but I noticed something for the first time today. When I got my order confirmation email, there were these two lines just after the total of my order:
You have saved $35.05 over regular retail prices on this order.
You have saved $459.76 over regular retail prices on all prior purchases.
WOW! I had no idea I had "saved" so much money over the years. I guess I should continue to shop at Sierra Trading Post. :-) If they hadn't told me, I would have never known.
What information can you tell your members that you know about them? How can you demonstrate to your members/clients on an individual basis that you 'know" them and that they are not just another person/company? See a previous post about knowing your members and using member intelligence.
Can you show them how much money they've saved using your insurance plan or office supply discount program (even if approximate)? Can you demonstrate the value to their business of your legislative efforts or the referrals you send their way? Bring the value you deliver down to the smallest level possible – their individual business. Find ways in your membership management software to track and assign value to everything your organization does. Then find ways to communicate that to your members to help increase member satisfaction and improve member retention.
